"The task of the artist at any time is uncompromisingly simple - to discover what has yet to be done, and to do it."

Craig Raine
Poet

"You see I am an enthusiast on the subject of the arts.  But it is an enthusiasm of which I am not ashamed, as its object is to improve the taste of my countrymen, to increase their reputation, to reconcile to them the respect of the world and procure them its praise"

Thomas Jefferson
Letter to James Madison

Kathleen Kuchar, Professor Emeritus - Fort Hays State University, will be teaching a painting/collage workshop.  Are you ready to explore something new?  Or, if you are familiar with collage, to expand what you already know?    Be inspired by Romare Bearden, the master of American collage as you create your own painted papers, incorporate graphic imagery from magazines, and add some paint, crayon, and/or pencil work to produce a fantasy landscape or abstraction.  The workshop will include demonstrations, examples, individual attention and group discussion.  All skills are welcome.  Coffee will be provided, and please bring a sack lunch.

Necessary supplies include acrylic paints & brushes (bring what you have, otherwise Kathleen will share some of hers), magazines to cut up, and any other papers (scrapbooking papers, old drawings, watercolors or monotypes to be cut up).  Kathleen will provide glue and paper for the substrate.  And – wear your grubbies!
