August 9, 2008
"Faces and
Places,"
a photography exhibition by Jack Logan is
displayed in the Hall Gallery. The works
represent many of the people Logan has
encountered or become acquainted with during his
many travels.
The Artist's
Statement:
In my years of photography, my
forte has been landscape and floral
photography. In my travels I have occasionally
noticed a person that inspired me to photograph
them. They have usually been doing something out
of the ordinary, at least
what I consider
ordinary. Recently I have been inspired to put
together an exhibit of these photos. Most of
these characters I have encountered outdoors.
There are street musicians, kids, street
artists, street vendors, and unusual
occupations. I have prepared a short narrative
to accompany each photograph to explain my
reason for taking the photograph. My hope is
that visitors to this exhibit will enjoy the
photographs as much as I have enjoyed
reminiscing as I prepared this exhibit. Each
photograph stirred memories of the time the
photograph was taken. As I have prepared this
exhibit, I have also had the opportunity to
remember other photographs of people that I
could have taken and I am sorry that I didn’t
take those photographs.
