collector Christopher Janzen, this collection
features some of the most highly acclaimed and
recognized Southwestern and Native American
artists.
Included are works
by R.C. Gorman, who is often considered the
“Picasso of Indian artists” and is best known
for his images of Navajo women with his distinct
monumental style. Also displayed are the works
of Luis Jimenez, who in addition to his
paintings, created large sculptures with one of
his final ones being created for the Denver
International Airport.
Artist T.C. Cannon is one of the most notable 20th
Century Native American artists and he and
another of this featured artists, Fritz Scholder,
was the subject of an exhibition at the
Smithsonian Institution's
National Collection of Fine Arts, titled
"Two American Painters."
